Extra Hard Pitch

is a thermoplastic, acidic resin. It has a high softening point and amber color, and is a product of the naval stores industry obtained during the separation and refining of resins and terpenes extracted from pinewood. Extra Hard Pitch is composed of rosin-type resin acids, oxidized and modified forms of these resins, and neutral and colored constituents associated with dark rosin. Extra Hard Pitch is suggested as a close replacement for gum rosin type products.
